Welcome to The Worthy Jacob Farm, nestled due east of Portland, Oregon in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. We are a small-fry, conservation breeder of Jacob sheep and we are dedicated to sustaining local foodsheds and fibersheds. The Jacob is a primitive, hardy, intelligent and unique breed that will often speak for itself.  We have learned much from them. Here you can learn about our farm and our commitment to preserving this heritage breed while offering exceptional wool, meat, fiber products and more.

Award-winning Gorge grown wool

Our Jacob sheep produce a medium-fine wool prized for its unique color variations, softness, and versatility. Each lamb is born with its own marks, and each grows a unique palette of fiber.  Whether you're a knitter, weaver, spinner, or felter - our wool provides exceptional quality, springy warmth and a rich heritage. It is also a fantastic fiber for natural dyeing. Browse our selection of raw fleece and handspun yarns.

Grass-fed lamb

Savor the exceptional taste of our grass-fed Jacob lamb and mutton. Raised naturally on our pastures, our lamb offers a nutrient-dense flavorful experience. The jacob is a medium stature carcass and full maturity is reached around 22 months, producing a tender, lean meat.  For this reason, we push the conventional wisdom boundaries around harvesting young lambs and strive for the longest life possible for each flock member. We encourage consumption of our mutton as a more sustainable, economical and delicious alternative.  Available seasonally in reserved shares and occasionally as USDA retail cuts. Please contact us to learn more.

We are registered with the Jacob Sheep Breeders Association, The Livestock Conservancy and the Columbia Fibres Guild.

We are neighbors to and members of the Columbia Grange #267.

We encourage visitors to the farm by appointment, during daytime business hours.
